A digital certificate is the electronic equivalent of a passport or a trade license. A trusted Certification Authority, such as Comtrust, issues the digital certificates after necessary verification of identity of individuals and organizations. When Comtrust issues a digital certificate, it verifies that the owner of the certificate is not claiming a false identity.

As Internet and web technologies are becoming more and more popular, so is the need to ensure security of data. Internet protocols and technologies are designed to be open in nature.
