Comtrust announces the availability of Business User Certificates across the GCC region. "By obtaining a Comtrust Business User certificate, an individual will be able to send digitally signed messages and enable others to send encrypted e-mails to the certificate holder," explains Omran Al Owais, Comtrust's General Manager. .

The introduction of Business User Certificates is an extension of the Comtrust User Certificates, launched few months back. According to Al Owais the main difference is that User Certificates are bought by individuals and have that individual's name on it. The Business User Certificates, on the other hand, are ideal for organizations who wish to ensure a secure environment for their online messaging/transactions and who may wish to distribute the certificates to their employees or business partners, depending on the importance of security in the data transactions. In addition to the name of individual, these certificates reflect name of organization and organization unit.

"User certificates are available only to individuals in the UAE, however the Business User Certificate will be available to organizations across the GCC region," says Al Owais. "We expect that the main customers will be banks, large organizations, financial institutions, legal consultants, etc.

By combining public key cryptography, digital signatures, proof of identities, Comtrust Business User Certificates help create secure communications between business partners, across an enterprise or in an extranet environment." These certificates could also be used as a part of Comtrust SecureAccess package, which will launched soon, This package will not only facilitate access control based on Comtrust Business User Certificates but will also help organizations implement access privileges based on digital certificates.
