Therefore, the recipient of a digitally signed
message can be sure that this message is coming from you and that you
wrote what he or she is reading.
The process of signing a message does not protect the
message from being intercepted and read by someone other than the
recipient. To ensure that only the recipient can read the message, you
must also encrypt the message.
To get the recipient's
certificate you can ask him or her to send you a signed e-mail first
(which will contain his certificate and his or her public key), or you can
find the certificate online from Comtrust public directory.
The use of the public key
of the recipient in the encryption procedure guarantees the confidentiality
of the message (you know the recipient is the only person who can read
your message)
To define your security settings and to specify which
certificate you wish to use you need to define your default security
settings. To do so you need to click the ‘Change
Settings’ button. You will then receive the following screen
:

You can create different security settings and give
these separate names to be used for different purposes.

signatures (SHA-1, MD5)
The ‘Encryption’ settings

You need to click the ‘Choose…’
button to receive the same screen as presented previously.
